Getting There

It takes around 2 to 2 and 1/2 hrs by plane from the UK there are several low cost airlines as listed below.

To Budapest Airport

The airport (Ferihegy) is around 25km to the south east of the city centre

  • Malev and British Airways fly from Heathrow and Gatwick

All low cost airlines now fly into Terminal 1 at Ferihegy

Balaton Airport

The Lake Balaton airport is approx 15km southwest of Keszthely to the west of Lake Balaton.

Veszprem Airport

New airport at Veszprem - No details available as yet but the airport is expected to be operational during 2009

Public Transport

There are Bus taxi from all airports to the Balaton area. - www.busexpress.hu

A new train service now connects the airport with Nyugati train station (also on Metro M3) in central Budapest, very importantly this train station is located only 100 metres on the left as you exit terminal of the airport.
